Playing seasons and age groups

There are two seasons per year.

The Summer season (term 4 and term 1) runs from October through until March with a break from mid-December through until late January.

The Winter season (term 2 and term 3) runs from May through until August though games are not played on the middle weekend of the school term holidays.

To play in the Summer competition a player must be under the nominated age as at the 30 June of the current year.

To play in the Winter competition a player must be under the nominated age as at the 31 December of the previous year.

How do we select teams?

As a club we try to select the strongest team per grade and age group.

This process involves the Age Group Coordinator and coaches assessing the players, in action on the court, their skills, attitude and potential. We will endeavour to be as accountable as possible when selecting teams, with the best 8 players being selected per team/per grade.

Waverley Raiders doors are wide open to all, from beginners to very experienced A-Grade players and an effort will be made to ensure every registered player (before the cut off date) is in a team that is suitable to the skills they have.
